OPIA

About Us

OPIA, founded in 2007 in Costa Rica, is a specialized engineering services firm, certified by NEBB USA in the disciplines of Commissioning (Cx), Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) of Environmental Systems, and Cleanroom Performance Testing (CPT), under certification number 3417.

OPIA's Quality Management System is ISO 9001:2015 certified by INTECO – RE-015:2022 and employs certified personnel for NSF-49 testing of Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs).

OPIA is an active member of renowned professional associations, both internationally, including IEST, ISPE, CETA, I2SL, and ASHRAE. Locally, OPIA is registered with the Federated College of Engineers and Architects and the College of Chemical Engineers and Related Professionals, as required for handling the materials necessary for the tests offered.

Likewise, we are members of the Medical Devices Cluster of Costa Rica. These memberships enable us to stay current with the latest regulations, technological advancements, and industry best practices.

Our Services

  • Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing of Environmental Systems (TAB): It is the application of engineering principles in the operation of environmental systems, hydronic systems, extraction systems, and the like to bring their operation to the most energetically optimal point that meets the design requirements.

  • Building Systems Commissioning Services (Cx): Commissioning services for industrial projects, promoting the delivery of a fully functional system to the client and guaranteeing that the quality requirements established at the beginning of the project are achieved.

  • Validation Services (VAL): We provide support in preparing the required documentation for Design Qualification (DQ), Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) to ensure consistent and repeatable results.

  • Protocols and Special Tests: We offer services for engineering studies in controlled environments and cleanrooms that include capacity analysis studies based on non-viable particles, implementation of failure mode analysis and their operating scenarios, studies of uniformity of temperature and relative humidity in storage areas, among others.
    • Recovery tests
    • Capacity analysis
    • Failure mode analysis
    • Temperature and relative humidity in storage areas

  • Cleanroom Performance Testing (CPT): Cleanroom Performance Testing (CPT) is the engineering discipline that involves document preparation, testing, analysis, and appropriate reporting to ensure the performance of cleanroom systems. We regularly test at recommended intervals to ensure continued compliance. Our tests comply with the NEBB, ISO 14644 standards, and the recommended practices indicated by IEST.

  • Laminar Airflow Hood Testing (LAFH): We carry out performance qualification services for laminar air flow hoods in their different configurations. This equipment is used to protect materials. Our tests comply with the NEBB and IEST-RP-CC002.4 standards.

  • Biological Safety Cabinet Testing (BSC): We carry out performance qualification services for biosafety cabinets in their different configurations. This equipment is used to protect laboratory personnel, materials, and the environment from biological components. Our tests comply with NEBB standards, observing NSF/ANSI 49.

  • Fume Hood (FHT) We carry out performance qualification services for fume hoods in their different configurations. This equipment is used to protect laboratory personnel from gases, vapors, and fumes. Our tests comply with NEBB standards, observing ASHRAE/ANSI-110.

  • Compressed Dry Air (CDA): We provide the service for the execution of air quality tests of your compressed systems and obtain information on the performance level of the system for your process. Our test methodologies and equipment meet the requirements of ISO 8573.

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD): The fluid network simulation services division offers a series of engineering services oriented to the methodical analysis of the facilities' operation, determining opportunities for improvement, making adjustments to the facilities,s and obtaining final performance information to document the overall improvement of the plant.         ·

  • Automated Monitoring System Configuration: Configuration of fully automated non-viable particle monitoring systems and the supply of monitoring equipment for all types of clean rooms and controlled environments, allowing 24/7 monitoring of critical points and activation of alarms for timely control.

  • Client Consulting and Training: We provide consulting and training services to OPIA client companies or institutions that wish to learn more or acquire training on specialized topics related to our services or our representations.

Through our experience, we not only optimize the operational efficiency of the industries we serve, but we also contribute to the economic and social development of the country.
