During the event, CINDE will highlight Costa Rica’s competitive advantages as a strategic hub for the manufacturing and export of medical devices.
"Our participation in MD&M West 2025 is an opportunity to showcase the growth and dynamism of Costa Rica’s life sciences sector to the world. We will engage in a robust agenda of meetings with potential investors while staying at the forefront of the latest industry trends," said Marianela Urgellés Batalla, Managing Director of CINDE.
This participation comes amid recent announcements from global life sciences companies expanding their operations in
Costa Rica. Among them is
Harland Medical Systems, which recently launched operations in the country. Its new facility at The Green Park Free Zone in Alajuela will focus on manufacturing hydrophilic coatings, further expanding the supplier ecosystem and strengthening the industry’s value chain.
Meanwhile,
Edwards Lifesciences, renowned for its cutting-edge cardiovascular disease treatments, has diversified and expanded its Costa Rica operations by opening a new Corporate Services Center (CSC) at La Lima Business Park in Cartago.
Since 2017, Costa Rica’s medical device exports have grown at an average annual rate of 18%, surpassing $8 billion in 2024. This rapid expansion has positioned the country as Latin America’s second-largest exporter of medical devices and the fifth-largest supplier of these products to the United States.
