SAN JOSE, Costa Rica. July, 28, 2021. NI today announced a $100 000 USD grant to benefit two non-governmental organizations that have a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education focus.
The initiative is part of the celebrations around the tenth anniversary of the company in the country. “NI settled in Costa Rica 10 years ago and to help celebrate its anniversary, the company decided to give back to the community,” said Carlos Rios, General Manager of NI in Costa Rica. “The purpose of this project is to continue supporting
diversity and inclusion of all races, ethnicities, cultures and genders in engineering,” Rios explained.
The grant is open to NGOs that develop projects with a direct impact on vulnerable populations, racially discriminated collectives, girls, and other under-represented groups. The pre-selection process closes on August 13, 2021.
To participate, interested organizations must complete an online application form available via this

bit.ly/NI100K before August 6, 2021. A total of 20 organizations will be pre-selected for in-depth project development proposals. From there, a grant review committee will choose one organization to receive the $100,000 grant.
Participants will be evaluated based on their overall local impact, diversity of staff, leadership capacities and their ability to offer volunteering opportunities to local NI employees.
“One of our corporate impact pillars is Changing the Faces of Engineering. We are committed to supporting aspiring engineers and increasing the diversity of the engineering talent pipeline. Each year through 2030, we will advance STEM education initiatives serving underrepresented or economically disadvantaged students,” said Rios.
The grant recipient organizations will be announced in October 2021.
