Kimberly-Clark Donates Funds and Products to Assist the COVID-19 Outbreak
Kimberly-Clark, a company specialized in the development of health, hygiene, and personal care products, donated US$15,000 to assist the novel coronavirus outbreak in Costa Rica.
These funds support the initiative led by the North American Costa Rican Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), in conjunction with the Business Development Alliance (AED) and the CRUSA Foundation, whose purpose is to provide the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) with portable diagnostic equipment and test kits for the early detection of Covid-19 in the country.
The #TESTINGPROACTIVOCR "Together We Transform" campaign aims to donate 40 diagnostic kits valued at $12,000 each and at least 10,000 COVID-19 test kits, which cost $62 each.
Gonzalo Uribe, vice president for the northern region of Latin America at Kimberly-Clark, affirmed that supporting this initiative is part of the company's social commitment. "We want to collaborate proactively with the country's efforts to detect early the coronavirus and join efforts within the private sector to reactivate the economy," he added.
The company also delivered 100,000 wet towels and 369,000 Huggies diapers to the Food Bank, a non-governmental organization that distributes these essential products in the most vulnerable communities. Currently, this entity benefits more than 40,000 people in conditions of extreme poverty.
“We partnered with the Food Bank to contribute and reach those who need it most. This way, we fulfill the mission of improving the quality of people's lives through essential products," concluded Gonzalo Uribe.
The company recently announced the donation of US$8 million - equivalent to personal hygiene product and monetary aid - to support recovery efforts of the Covid-19 worldwide.
