Grecia, Costa Rica. September 1, 2021 – Nitrile Gloves, a company with Mexican business partners, will build a 4,000 m2 (43,000 ft2) plant in Costa Rica to manufacture nitrile gloves.
The company will be within the Costa Rica Green Valley Business Park, a mixed-use development under the free-trade zone structure, located in Grecia, Alajuela.
Carlos Alvarado, the President of the Republic, highlighted the relevance of business investment outside the Greater Metropolitan Area (GMA) and focused, specifically, on Nitrile Gloves: The first confirmed project in this new free zone, the company will contribute to boosting the regional economy.
“This type of investment makes me very happy, as it aligns with the Territorial Strategy developed to attract foreign direct investment and job opportunities to various regions of the country,” added the president.
Nitrile Gloves has more than 55 years of experience in producing gloves, paired with needs arising from the pandemic and the daily use and awareness regarding the protection and care of the hands. That prompted the company to launch this project in Costa Rica, thus taking advantage of the facilities and benefits that the country provides for investment projects of this type.
Andrés Valenciano, the Minister of Foreign Trade, also expressed his pleasure at the news.
“The announcement of Nitrile Gloves’ plant in Grecia demonstrates the fruits of our commitment to reducing gaps between the Greater Metropolitan Area and more rural areas, via strong commitments of foreign direct investment. Thanks to this launch, the Costa Rica Green Valley Free Zone stands out as a region outside the GMA that offers optimal competitive conditions and a very favorable investment climate. In addition, our value proposition based on
people, planet, and prosperity, aligns with the values of companies that want to invest with purpose – companies like Nitrile Gloves. Thank you for your trust in Costa Rica; we continue to expand our quality growth opportunities!”, said the Minister.
Arnoldo Estrada, the Manager of the Costa Rica Green Valley project, stated, “At Portafolio Inmobiliario, our goal will always be to promote foreign investment and to develop key areas throughout the country to create employment and new opportunities for economic reactivation in different sectors. With this premise in mind, we are developing and opening the doors to CR Green Valley, a business park that meets all the quality standards necessary to attract companies that seek to establish their operations on national soil.”
Jorge Sequeira, the Managing Director of
CINDE, commented, “Costa Rica stands out worldwide as a destination par excellence for companies seeking to develop
intelligent manufacturing processes with high-efficiency levels. The human talent located outside the GMA – in this case, in the western region – provides the necessary synergies for these companies to consolidate their business objectives. By the end of 2020, 3,660 Costa Ricans worked in multinational companies, like Nitrile Gloves, that had invested outside the GMA – a figure that continues to grow, thanks to the quality of our human resources and continuous improvements to the competitive conditions in these regions.”
The company will hire 25 new employees, during the first stage of the project in operational and administrative areas. Those interested in applying for future opportunities should fill out a form here:
