San José, July 8, 2021. TE Connectivity, a U.S. company, will hire more Costa Rican personnel for its medical
manufacturing plants, as well as for their financial
services center that operates from Costa Rica.
This local growth comes on the heels of TE Connectivity moving several of its company projects, previously headquartered elsewhere, to its Costa Rican location where, as demonstrated during the pandemic's most critical months and throughout 2020, the company came to rely on Costa Rican operations for continuity of business in services and manufacturing. Now, the company entrusts new challenges to Costa Rica.
Andrés Valenciano, Costa Rican Minister of Foreign Trade, expressed his pleasure at the news and commented, “In Latin America, Costa Rica has grown more competitive and positioned itself favorably as an open economy with the platform to export high-quality goods and services to the world's primary markets. Additionally, our strategic vision has made the country a favorite destination among foreign companies looking for a headquarters to install their operations. As evidence of this, TE Connectivity, a leader in industrial technology, announced that it will hire personnel in the areas of medical manufacturing and for its service center. We are pleased that Costa Rica occupies a key position in their business strategy and that they have found, in our country, a stable business partner."
Enrique Saborío, General Manager of TE Connectivity, stated, “Costa Rica is a fundamental part of TE Medical's growth strategy, for multiple reasons. To begin, several of our clients already have operations of significant magnitude in the country; this allows us to work more closely with each of them and to establish a more agile and rapid supply chain in response to business needs. Additionally, and in the same vein, establishing a Medical Cluster in Costa Rica has helped influence our strategic priorities, in order to facilitate operations and fuel future growth for TE Connectivity in the country. Furthermore, from a talent point of view, Costa Rica offers a solid line of well-prepared human resources who can adapt quickly to the needs of the industry, in the professional, technical, and operational fields.”
Jorge Sequeira, Managing Director of
CINDE, commented, “TE Connectivity has managed to diversify its local footprint by implementing, over time, sophisticated manufacturing and service processes. This trend has gained strength in Costa Rica and has allowed many more companies to achieve technological convergences with a view to disruption, better customer response times, and a more efficient logistics chain. In 2020 alone, 81 investment projects either inaugurated local operations or reinvested in Costa Rica – a record number that, in turn, created almost 20,000 jobs. We thank TE Connectivity for its trust in Costa Rica's value proposition, which remains committed to
people, planet, and prosperity.”
